MICHELANGELO - Tondo Doni
One of the earliest paintings by Michelangelo Buonarroti is the oil and tempera on panel of the Holy Family with St. John the Baptist, in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. It’s better known as Tondo Doni because of its circular shape and the person who commissioned the work. The artist painted the piece in 1504 for Agnolo Doni, on the occasion of his marriage to Maddalena Strozzi.
TIZIANO - Venere Di Urbino
Is one of the most sensual paintings by Titian. It was one of the most famous paintings of the 16th century, and there were many copies and reproductions over the following centuries. One of the greatest Renaissance paintings of a mythological nature, the life-size Venus of Urbino remains the iconic version of the reclining female nude, and a treasure of the Venetian High Renaissance.
CARAVAGGIO - Medusa
Medusa is a monster from Greek mythology, one of the three Gorgon sisters, whom was beheaded by the hero Perseus before her gaze turned him to stone. Perseus was cunning and used a shield as a mirror so that Medusa was paralyzed by her own reflection. This way he could defeat her.
